When done by hand, slag removal is time consuming. The quality of the deburring becomes inconsistent. Managing parts by hand can be difficult and especially painful to work with. This is where Timesaver's slag removal machines shines. Their machines were designed to have a hard contact router to take away large burrs and then a soft contact router to remove the burrs created from plasma cutting.
For welding, the traditional designs for Timesavers were sufficient. However, in 2010-2015, the brushes began the rotation around the parts, to refine the burrs even more.
In 2017, Timesavers released the Hammerhead Slag Grinder. This design was to "hammer" and bend the slag so that it would fall off of the parts being deburred. Put on both the 22 and 42 series, the hammerhead is an oscillating and rotating head with hardened steel pins that are designed to be replaceable so that the finish can always stay consistent.
